A luxurious estate with stunning sea views
Mandalay is a serene hilltop property in Mustique, featuring a stylish fusion of the ornate Balinese style, modern facilities, and Caribbean charm. This seven-bedroom luxury villa provides guests with the ultimate in luxury.
Designed by famous architects Arne Hasslqvist and Robert Litwiller, the Mandalay Estate, initially named Britannia Bay House, was built in the late 1980s for the British rock legend David Bowie. The property was subsequently owned by the billionaire and poet Felix Dennis who gave it its current name. Since 2014, the Mandalay estate has belonged to English entrepreneur Simon Dolan, who for the first time in history has decided to rent out the luxury property to discerning guests.
The luxurious estate is built around a split-level koi pond, waterfalls, and an infinity pool. All the water elements seemingly connect the luxury property to the Caribbean Sea and offer guests an unparalleled sense of serenity and tranquillity.
The impressive size of this VIP-owned property and its clever design allow a group of up to 14 discerning guests to enjoy both undisturbed privacy or plenty of scope for get-togethers. Guests can spend special time with friends and family in any of the multiple communal areas, including receptions, the dining pavilion, or the games room; alternatively, they can enjoy quality alone time on the multiple private garden decks sunbathing under the lazy sky, and watching the clouds go sailing by. The exquisite estate features a gorgeous garden with exotic foliage, hidden corners, and multiple sculptures and carvings, a veritable open-air green museum for guests to explore.
The Mandalay Estate includes the main house with five bedrooms and two additional independent houses, the Artist's Studio and the Writer's Cottage, which together offer an additional two bedrooms and accommodation for four guests. The Studio was originally used by David Bowie for recording, and the cottage was used by Felix Dennis for writing poetry.
Throughout their stay, guests holidaying at The Mandalay Estate will enjoy the dedicated attention of a team of nine on-site staff members who will provide all meals, refreshments, and housekeeping, and also advise on the activities occurring on the island. The estate’s in-house chef is able to cater for any dietary requirements, ensuring that guests have an unforgettable tailor-made experience.
