A beautifully-restored farmhouse with extensive outdoor living spaces, ideal for families
Set within expansive grounds stretching over one hectare, Lamia del Riccio is the perfect Apulian hideaway for a family or group of friends. Comprised of an old “lamia” - a traditional Apulian farmhouse – and a separate “trullo”, the property has a unique, rustic charm.
The gardens feature cacti and brightly-coloured Mediterranean plants, along with olive and fruit trees, adding to the feeling of country living. A large, paved terrace leads out to the swimming pool, which is surrounded by sun loungers, perfect for enjoying the Mediterranean climes.
On the sprawling, manicured lawns are small seating areas under pergolas for those looking for respite from the sun.
Ideal for leisurely al fresco meals is the large outdoor dining gazebo. With a fully-equipped kitchen and a barbecue, convivial meals can be enjoyed together before the adults retire to the lounge area and watch over the kids in the swimming pool.
Indoors, the spaces have been expertly curated by renowned interior designer Gian Paolo Guerra, with contemporary design and sleek fittings creating a modern and spacious feel. Carefully-selected vintage furniture pieces are dotted throughout – a nod to the property’s original character – and each room features various ceramic objects, custom-made by local artisans.
In the central lamia, guests can relax in the open-plan living and dining room, and prepare meals in the well-equipped kitchenette. Within this building are two of the three double bedrooms, each with a queen-size bed and en-suite shower room, and one with double doors leading out to the terrace. Two additional guests can also be accommodated on a sofa bed in the living room.
The third bedroom is located in the adjacent trullo, which has an independent entrance. This room boasts a dressing room and a unique en-suite shower room, which is carved into the stone and features a spacious double shower.
The property also offers an outdoor laundry, perfect for those enjoying an extended stay.
With its spacious al fresco areas and modern interiors, Lamia del Riccio is a true gem of the Apulian countryside.

Lamia del Riccio is located in the Apulian countryside, just a short drive from the city centre of Ostuni, known for its beautiful, white-washed old town.
Although enjoying a peaceful rural location, there are several bustling towns within a short distance; these include Ceglie Messapica, known as the gastronomic centre of the region, Locorotondo or “round place”, known for its sparkling white wine and its picturesque appearance, and the UNESCO World Heritage town of Alberobello, with its famous, Trulli-packed old town.
The nearest beach is just 20 minutes from the property, and the pretty seaside towns of Monopoli and Polignano al Mare are both less than an hour’s drive away.
The region enjoys a warm climate year-round and offers world-class food and wine, art and culture.
Due to Apulia’s rural setting, hiring a car is highly recommended to explore the different areas and get the most out of a visit to the region.
