Set on the hills just outside of Lucca, Villa Santa Maria is a generously-proportioned, elegant 14th century country home that has been restored to its original glory.
The villa sits on a private lake and boasts vast landscaped gardens. There are various al fresco living and dining areas throughout the grounds, including a large gazebo with electrical capabilities, as well as a sunken courtyard.
A large swimming pool is flanked by sun loungers and beside it sits a pool house with a changing area and shower room for guests’ convenience. There is also a private tennis court and an indoor gym, fully-equipped with everything needed for a great workout, as well as a relaxing sauna.
The villa is set over four floors with a lift to each. The beautiful entrance hall leads through to a spacious living room with a fireplace and plenty of comfortable seating. Guests can enjoy meals in the elegant dining room before retiring to the cost TV room to enjoy a movie night.
There is also a fully-equipped, Tuscan-style kitchen for cooking up tasty feasts. On the lower ground floor is a well-stocked wine cellar and a formal dining room, ideal for elegant dinner parties.
The villa’s seven bedrooms are spread throughout the first and second floors. There are three double bedrooms and four twins, all well-appointed and boasting en-suite facilities.

Villa Santa Maria is perfectly located, just a few kilometres from the beautiful town of Lucca, and within driving distance of Pisa, Florence, and the Versilia coast.
Visitors to Lucca can see the Medieval city walls, wander the antique markets, and stroll through the stunning botanical gardens.
Additionally, in the immediate vicinity of Villa Santa Maria, there are several historic villas open to the public, which were formerly the summer residences of nobles; Villa Torrigiani is a spectacular Baroque villa with its original gardens and water features; Villa Reale with its expansive gardens was the favourite residence of Napoleon’s sister, Princess Elisa Baciocchi Bonaparte; Villa Mansi was the summer residence of one of the wealthiest families in Lucca; Villa Bernardini is a 17th century villa that still boasts a 400-person theatre in its gardens; and finally, Villa Grabau is an estate recognised for its magnificent gardens and orangeries and limonaias.
