Courchevel 1850 has earned a reputation for being one of the world’s most glamourous and fashionable resorts, and has become the place to see and be seen - but it also has a lot more substance that just the glitz-factor.
Most importantly, the skiing is world class. Courchevel is part of the vast Trois Vallées ski area, which extends across the Meribel and Val Thorens valleys, making it the world’s largest ski area bar none.
Being so large, every type and style of run can be found in the Trois Vallées, from steep and hard core, to easy cruisy blues and everything in between. Having so many options also means good snow conditions can almost always be found somewhere across the ski area. The area generally has good snow reliability, helped by the high altitude of the area and Courchevel’s northerly aspect.
Courchevel and the Trois Vallées have a modern and efficient lift system so even if there are queues at busy periods, they tend to move fairly fast. There is also some of the best snow-making facilities in the Alps keeping many runs open very late in the season.
Courchevel is a good option for families as there is a wide selection of gentle slopes close to hand and there is also a well-run ski nursery, the ESF Club des Piou-Piou, in Courchevel 1650.
