An exquisite winter retreat in Val d'Isère

Chalet Kilimanjaro is located 5 minutes from the centre of Val d’Isere in a private enclave with uninterrupted views down the Manchet Valley and Vanoise National Park. The chalet is a home from home, perfectly located with breath-taking views over the valley.

On entering Chalet Kilimanjaro, you are drawn into an exquisite winter retreat, with comfort and luxury all rolled into one. The Travertino marble steps take you from the boot/ski room to the main entrance of the chalet, elegantly finished with warm Italian tiles and reclaimed wood that is over 200 years old.

Chalet Kilimanjaro offers an understated elegance throughout this luxurious alpine retreat.

The living room, located on the second floor, is cosy and warm with a large open log fire and floor to ceiling windows, capturing the picture-perfect surroundings.

Chalet Kilimanjaro sleeps 10 guests in 5 en-suite bedrooms – each room has its own unique character inclusive of a sunny south-facing balcony or terrace.

Although each bedroom is individual, each oozes Alpine chic with a combination of traditional Savoyard wood and Italian marble to create a sense of luxury and tranquillity.

In the evening, the private chauffeur will collect all guests and drive back to the chalet where afternoon tea and cakes will be served. A private terrace and hot tub are accessed from the main entrance hall, as well as from the three bedrooms located on the ground level. One top tip is to sit back and enjoy a glass of sparkling champagne in the chalet’s hot tub under the starry sky whilst the in-house private chef cooks up a 5 course culinary delight, with all meals tailored to guest requirements.

Chalet Kilimanjaro

Originally a small alpine farming village, Val d'Isere has continued to develop into a modern alpine resort whilst maintaining its village feel and sense of tradition.

This French ski resort remains popular, offering some of the best skiing and boarding in the world. There are over 300km of marked pisted runs and unlimited off-piste skiing within the Espace Killy area, making it an ideal location for skiers and boarders of all abilities to find something which satisfies. Due to its location against the peaks of the Italian border, Val d'Isere's record of snowfall is exceptional. The snow coverage tends to be one of the best in Europe and conditions normally facilitate good skiing right to the end of the season (typically the start of May). There are 96 lifts spreading ten miles across Val d’Isère and Tignes that can now carry 149,425 skiers per hour. Most of Val d’Isère’s lifts travel vertically more than horizontally, meaning more skiing down the mountain and just a short trip back up. With the resort’s height and excellent snow conditions, skiiers can generally ski back to the heart of the village right until the end of April/beginning of May (with care).

The centre and old town of Val d'Isere consist of stone and wooden-clad chalets which adds to the cosy feel of the resort. In terms of nightlife, Val d'Isere is a top destination with a vibrant and lively atmosphere centred on the wide main street that runs the length of the town. Fashion shops, restaurants, cafés, a cinema, and bars all line the busy high street, giving plenty of choice and variety. More recently, there is an increasing emphasis being placed on the look and feel of Val d'Isere and the centre of the resort is completely pedestrianised. In summer, a wide range of outdoor activities are available including 4 X 4 quad & trial biking, Arbre adventure (swinging through trees on zip lines, across monkey bridges, ladders and ropes), archery, canyoning, fishing, glacier & mountain walking, golf, horse riding and dozens of other activities for all ages and interests.
