Area
Due to its location near central Sorrento, Villa Mambrini is the perfect base for guests who wish to explore the Italian coastal towns, including Sorrento, Amalfi, Positano and Ravello.
Positano is a unique and incredibly attractive city, with its numerous flights of little steps, thin passageways fringed by lively bars, cafes, bistros and shops, as well as multi-coloured houses that seem to be built one on top of the other.
Amalfi, the famous resort, is also worth discovering. To get here, guests will most likely go on the Amalfi Drive, considered to be the most spectacular road in Europe. This road of many bends offers striking views at every turn.
Another great trip would be to Pompeii, which still triggers fascination among visitors today. Following the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, Pompeii lay buried and forgotten, until the 18th century when excavations began. Visitors can now get a sense of the lifestyle led by the Romans prior to the apocalyptic eruption.
For day trips, Capri is the best choice. Either on an organised tour, or by a private boat with a captain, the boat commute to Capri will reveal the most enchanting stretches of coastline otherwise inaccessible by land.
