Villa Tavernaccia

Florence Area

Villa Tavernaccia

A classic Renaissance-style villa located within a large estate surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and aged hardwoods trees.

Villa Tavernaccia is a classic Renaissance-style villa located on a large estate just 13 kilometres from Florence. At 320 metres above sea level, the house and park have breathtaking 360-degree views of Florence and its surrounding countryside. These include Giotto’s bell tower and Brunelleschi’s dome. At this elevation, we can ensure that your stay is comfortable even in the hottest months of the year.

The villa is surrounded by vineyards, ancient hardwood trees and olive groves. Within the grounds of the villa is an estate-like park with a beautiful swimming pool, a small theatre in a natural setting and paths for the perfect evening stroll.

Would you like to holiday with royalty? Then Villa Tavernaccia is the place for you! In 1986 Prince Charles and Princess Diana were guests when they visited Italy together for the first time.

When entering the villa, you will find two spacious living rooms, a dining room overlooking the gardens and a family room with fitness equipment, kitchen and outdoor dining and seating area.

Two king-sized master bedrooms, a queen-sized bedroom, three twin bedrooms and a single bedroom can be found on the first floor. On the upper floor, you will find the Belvedere living room with four large windows giving a 360-degree view over the countryside.

Blessed by its beauty, wonderful wine and an unparalleled arts legacy, Tuscany (in English) or Toscana (in Italian) largely lives up to its reputation. Its fabled rolling landscape has long been considered the embodiment of rural chic, and the region is a favourite holiday destination for Prime Ministers and retired advertising executives, while its cities harbour a significant slice of the world’s Renaissance art.

Florence alone boasts more famous art than many countries. With some of Italy’s most striking Gothic architecture (Siena), the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the walls of Lucca an easy trip away from the villa, people who do not to make the effort to explore the region (as do some people who never venture beyond the region’s crowded capital) would be denying themselves wonderful adventures.

Stupendous art, achingly beautiful countryside, stirring wine and lip-smacking cuisine is what this sought-after region (from where the Renaissance rippled out across Europe) is all about. From the Etruscan marvels at Fiesole to the Piero della Francesca frescoes of Arezzo; from the towers of San Gimignano to the markets of Pistoia, there are delights for even the most jaded of tourists. Tuscany specialises in being the best.

It was in Florence, the region’s leading city, that Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and other brilliant fourteenth- to sixteenth-century Tuscan masters carved out art history. Brunelleschi’s dome changed the course of architecture, while Dante, Petrarch and Boccaccio penned parchments that planted the seeds of a unified Italian language. Be it Pisa’s famous Leaning Tower, Siena’s heart-stopping horse race or Florence’s David and bistecca all fiorentina steak, Tuscany is iconic in what it says about Italy.

But there’s far more to this tourist-favoured region of world-famous art and architecture. Take two steps back from centre stage and you will find a kaleidoscope of slow-paced hill-top towns to lunch in, vineyards and olive groves to taste wine in, and fresh, green Alpine pastures through which to amble oh-so-slowly. Be it savouring ancient Etruscan sites around Saturnia and Sovana, submitting to a wine-fuelled medieval reverie at Arezzo’s Giostra del Saracino or island-hopping off the southern coast, you don’t need to jostle with the crowds to discover the best of the best.
