A charming, family-friendly resort with access to over 300 km of pistes
The family-friendly alpine resort of Klosters lies in the rural part of the Prättigau region of Switzerland. Known as a favourite resort for the British royals, Klosters has also been frequent ski destination for Hollywood stars and business tycoons since the 1950s. It offers a romantic, village-style atmosphere, a contrast to its more lively sister resort of Davos.
The Davos-Klosters ski area is made up of six smaller resorts stretching over more than 300 km of guaranteed snow pistes and more challenging off-piste terrain. Each of the six areas has its own style and appeal:
Schatzalp is perfect for beginners with its gentle slopes and traditional drag lifts; Madrisa and Rinehorn are both ideal for families with their quieter slopes, magic carpets and children’s obstacle courses, plus the Rinehorn toboggan run; Parsenn is known as the “classic” mountain due to its wide slopes and traditional chalets; Jakobshorn invites the daredevil skiers and boarders with a super-pipe and freestyle park; and Pischa is a free-rider, snow hiker, or cross country skier’s heaven with its expansive off-piste terrain and just a single cable car up the mountain.
The Klosters village centre features small, independent stores rather than high-end fashion boutiques, and more charming restaurants and stylish lounge bars than the loud clubs and bars of Davos. However, visitors can enjoy a late-night drink and dance at the Casa Atica, a popular dancing spot since the 1950s.
