A private and magical Irish castle in Waterford

Dating from 1170, privately-owned Lismore Castle enjoys a stunning countryside setting in Waterford, Ireland’s oldest city. The castle is ideal for unforgettable family holidays, a special gathering of friends, a corporate retreat, or an enchanting castle wedding.

The extensive grounds include beautifully landscaped gardens, perfect for outdoor events, as well as a nine-hole golf course and a hard tennis court for guests looking to keep active during their stay.

The River Blackmore runs along the edge of the estate and guests can enjoy salmon fishing from its banks, or take a leisurely canoe or kayak trip down the river.

Indoors, the castle maintains its historic charm with opulent furnishings, timeless chandeliers and original artworks. However, guests can enjoy all the modern comforts including satellite TV, home cinema and sound systems, and Wi-Fi.

There are plenty of spaces to relax throughout the castle which features a drawing room, two sitting rooms, a library, a games room with a full-size billiards table, and a fully-equipped playroom/nursery for younger guests.

The spectacular Pugin Banqueting Hall can host up to 100 guests beneath its high, arched ceilings, making it the ideal setting for special events. There is a second smaller dining room for more intimate gatherings and guests have the option of formal or informal dining, themed or traditional events. Meals can be expertly paired with wines from the castle’s own cellar.

The 15 beautifully-appointed bedrooms (11 doubles, one twin, and three singles) sleeping up to 27 guests in total. Most bedrooms boast en-suite facilities with the two singles sharing a bathroom ideal for children.

Whether celebrating a special event, enjoying a family getaway, or bonding with colleagues at a corporate retreat, Lismore Castle’s personal butler and his dedicated team are on hand ensure everyone enjoy an unforgettable stay in true luxury.

Lismore Castle

Lismore is one of Waterford's oldest towns and was the winner of Irelands Tidiest Small Town in 2010. Lismore is proud not only of its ancient and historic heritage, but also of its natural beautiful location in the heart of the River Blackwater valley.

In addition to the many facilities and activities in the castle and on the estate, Lismore Castle is conveniently located close to many excellent opportunities for other activities and excursions.

Horse-riding, hill-walking in the nearby Knockmealdown Mountains, a serious round of golf on some of Ireland’s leading courses, and dining out in award-winning nearby restaurants are just some of the amenities within easy reach of the castle.

Lismore Castle is easily accessed from the main points of entry to Ireland from abroad and from the main towns and cities in Ireland, and all of the country's major airports are within easy reach.
