Domaine de Canaille is one of the most prestigious private villas on the French Riviera. Located in the charming village of Cassis, just outside Marseille, the property boasts stunning sea views and grounds spanning over 150 acres.
Originally built as a hotel, the villa has been carefully renovated and transformed into a spacious luxury villa sleeping up to 24 guests in comfort and style. The villa enjoys an exclusive location surrounded by trees for privacy and overlooking the Mediterranean.
Guests can take the private beach path down to the water, just five minutes’ walk away, or enjoy a dip in the large, 13-metre heated pool before soaking up the sun from the surrounding sun loungers. A bubbling Jacuzzi and an outdoor sauna cabin offer more space to relax and rejuvenate whilst taking in the breathtaking sea views. An indoor hammam completes the wellness experience. Within the estate’s grounds, there is also a petanque pitch for friendly competition and an orangery, ideal for romantic strolls.
A vast 500-square-metre terrace is ideal for soaking up the sunshine or hosting outdoor events with a stunning sea backdrop. For quieter moments, lounge settings and hammocks provide perfect spaces to relax with loved ones or catch up on a holiday read. A dining table on the terrace provides space for relaxed al fresco meals, or additional seating can be added for events.
Indoors, there are four reception rooms, plus a home cinema room for family film nights. The fireplace lounge is perfect for cooler evenings, plus there is a quiet home office for those catching up on work during their stay. A spacious kitchen is perfect for preparing delicious meals to be enjoyed in the elegant dining room.
This spacious property is ideal for special occasions, from private parties to weddings. Along with generous living areas and outdoor spaces, the villa also boasts a private nightclub, perfect for evening events.
Nine well-appointed bedrooms are located throughout the main villa, most with en-suite or private facilities. The master suite is a standout room which adjoins the office space and boasts two large, private terraces. Those travelling with children can make use of the mezzanine living area, which can be converted into a dormitory bedroom. Perfect for those seeking a little more privacy is the guest house with two twin bedrooms, whilst for larger groups, an additional twin bedroom with a kitchenette, en-suite bathroom, and terrace is also available on request.

About the area
Domaine de Canaille is located on the cliffs overlooking the pretty fishing village of Cassis on the Cote d’Azur. The village centre and port with its pastel buildings and bustling cafes and bars is just 15 minutes’ walk from the villa.
Running all the way along the coast from Cassis to Marseille – around 30 minutes’ drive away – are The Calanques, which are a series of limestone cliffs and beautiful bays. From the top of Cap Canaille, visitors can take in spectacular views across Cassis and Mount Puget, the highest peak in The Calanques.
For a scenic drive, visitors can take the Route des Crêtes (“Road of Crests”), which stretches 13 kilometres along the clifftops from Cassis to the town of La Ciotat, boasting spectacular coastal and countryside views along the way.
Visitors can relax on the pebble beaches, enjoy boating, snorkelling, or diving in the azure waters, or hiking, cycling and climbing on land. Wine connoisseurs will enjoy the local vineyards and wineries producing Cassis white and rosé wines.
