Isca Private Island
6 Bedrooms — 12 Guests
A serene, nature-filled private island with an authentic Mediterranean vibe
Floating quietly off the dramatic cliffs of the Amalfi Coast near Massa Lubrense, Isca Private Island stands as one of the Mediterranean’s most exclusive sanctuaries. Spanning roughly 25,000 square metres inside the Punta Campanella Marine Protected Area, this limestone islet offers rare isolation, artistic heritage, and panoramic views of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
The island has a rich history, with ancient limestone terraces, cisterns, and a nymphaeum hinting at its past as an imperial Roman seaside retreat. In more recent history, legendary Neapolitan playwright and actor Eduardo De Filippo acquired the island as his private creative refuge in the 1950s, where he penned many of his masterworks.
Accessible solely by boat, this stunning island is a botanical and wildlife haven. Fragrant olive groves, native pines, wild rosemary, and brilliant flowering bougainvillaea cover the limestone slopes. Stone footpaths wind through dense Mediterranean scrubland, offering quiet spots to birdwatch or soak up the views. Moreover, a long stone staircase leads down to a private stone dock, where guests can directly access the surrounding waters.
A private pool lined with sun loungers and shady umbrellas is the highlight of the property’s vast exteriors. The multi-tiered stone terraces feature a mix of open and shaded al fresco lounge and dining areas, including a vast outdoor kitchen and barbecue area, which complete the outdoor experience.
Inside, the villa interiors embody a refined Mediterranean aesthetic, where functionality and understated luxury combine. The light-filled living room features polished timber flooring and floor-to-ceiling glass doors framing uninterrupted sea views. Plush lounge chairs surround a flat-screen TV, while a long, 12-seat dining table offers space for convivial meals. The adjoining kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances and a sleek breakfast bar. Moreover, there is a separate professional kitchen for staff use.
Accommodating up to 12 guests, the estate includes a main villa and an independent annex. Many of the bedrooms feature beautiful multi-coloured Neapolitan ceramic tiled floors, honouring traditional Campania craftsmanship, and all boast en-suite bathrooms. The main villa houses four well-appointed guest bedrooms and one larger suite with a private lounge area. The master suite is located in the separate annex, offering additional privacy, along with its own lounge area and a private, sea-view terrace.
With its sprawling terraces, stunning infinity pool, and carefully restored interiors, Isca Private Island is the epitome of understated luxury on the Amalfi Coast.

About the area
Isca Private Island is located off the coast of the southern edge of the Sorrento Peninsula, directly within the protected waters of the Punta Campanella Marine Reserve. Set just 120 metres off the mainland coast, the island offers a rare balance between total seclusion and easy access to the Amalfi Coast’s finest dining and cultural landmarks.
At the base of the island’s cliffs, a private dock carved into the rock provides direct sea access for swimming, paddleboarding, or snorkelling in submerged caves along the marine reserve.
The island is only accessible via water, yet is just a short, scenic boat ride from many of Southern Italy’s most iconic coastal destinations. Massa Lubrense and Nerano are just 10 minutes’ boat ride from the island, while Positano, Sorrento, and Capri are all within six nautical miles.
