Newton Surmaville Manor is a stunning Jacobean manor house in Somerset, near the border with Devon. Set upon 62 acres of gardens and parklands on the banks of the River Yeo, this Grade 1 listed 17th-century manor house offers the ultimate escape to the country.
Guests can arrive in style with the on-site helipad and then while away their days strolling through beautiful English gardens with manicured flower beds, well-tended lawns, and colourful lily ponds.
The sprawling grounds are also perfect for a host of outdoor activities, from croquet and archery to fishing and kayaking on the river. For younger guests, there is a trampoline and football nets.
The manor was built in the 1600s and lived in by the same family for almost four centuries. It has now been expertly restored and transformed into a luxury villa with 21st-century amenities and designer interiors perfectly blended with classic period features and old-world charm. High ceilings, oak panelling, stone fireplaces, and flagstone flooring are complemented by stylish decor.
The manor boasts five impressive reception rooms with plush furnishings and cosy fireplaces. From the spacious great hall with bay windows and colourful sofas to the intimate cocktail lounge to the cosy study, there is plenty of space to relax and socialise.

There is also an elegant coach house, perfect for hosting events. It features several large rooms inside, plus a large, open space outdoors, perfect for a marquee.

About the area
Newton Surmaville Manor is on the outskirts of the traditional market town of Yeovil in the south of Somerset, very near the border with Dorset.
Set in a valley with the River Yeo running through it, the manor is ideal for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts. The rivers and ponds are filled with newts, water voles and otters; the woodlands are home to deer, foxes and badgers; and buzzards, kingfishers, and other birdlife patrol the skies.
There are plenty of activities to enjoy on the grounds of the manor. Guests can enjoy a game of quintessentially British croquet whilst sipping on a glass of Pimms, try their hand at archery or clay pigeon shooting, or go kayaking, paddle boarding, or fishing on the river.
In the surrounding areas, visitors can wander through vast wildflower meadows, visit other historic manors and heritage-listed buildings, or enjoy a tour and tasting at Thatcher’s Cider farm.
The area also has several noteworthy historic sites, including Stonehenge, Wells Cathedral, Montacute House & Gardens, Sherborne Castle, and the 95-mile-long Jurassic Coast.
Next door to the manor is the 27-hole Yeovil Golf Club, or for younger guests, there is an entertainment venue offering bowling, arcade and table games, and a cinema.
