Nestled in a secluded, top-secret location amongst the pine forests of Finnish Lapland, Octola Private Wilderness offers a truly exclusive retreat. With its setting above the Arctic Circle, it’s ideal for experiencing the magic of the Northern Lights in the winter months or the beauty of the Midnight Sun in the summer months.
Spread over more than 300 hectares, the hidden retreat was founded by former pro snowmobile racer Janne Honkanen and may be reached by car, snowmobile, or helicopter. Though secluded and immersed in nature, it still offers every comfort and service expected in a luxury lodge.
The estate comprises a 10-bedroom private lodge, a two-bedroom luxury villa, and a unique one-bedroom igloo suite. In addition, there are separate lodges for the cosy bar & barbecue lounge, the secluded wood-burning sauna and lounge, and the luxurious wellness centre with its indoor pool, Jacuzzi, Finnish sauna, gym, and spa treatment rooms. The spa also features an outdoor Jacuzzi and a separate cabin for yoga sessions and cosy fireside relaxation.
The Lodge offers 10 luxurious en-suite bedrooms across two wings, both leading to the central lounge and dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows and plush seating around a crackling fireplace. It also boasts a private spa with a sauna and an outdoor Jacuzzi in prime position for Northern Lights sightings.
The Super Suite Villa offers a more intimate experience with just two bedrooms. It features a large lounge and dining room with an adjoining kitchen and two spacious bedrooms with en-suite facilities and private terraces for viewing the Northern Lights. The master suite also boasts a private sauna and a hidden terrace with a bubbling Jacuzzi.
For those seeking the ultimate immersion in nature, the Igloo Suite beckons. The lounge and bedroom feature glass domed ceilings, allowing guests to relax beneath a star-studded canopy or a dazzling Northern Lights display without compromising comfort. The suite also features a forest-view bathtub and an open-air hot tub for the ultimate luxury experience.

About the area
Octola Private Wilderness is spread across 300 acres of secluded forest just outside of Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland, though its exact location is top secret! Best known as Santa’s hometown, this pocket of Finland is a natural wonderland.
During the winter, the region is blanketed in thick snow and is a prime location for viewing the Aurora Borealis (or Northern Lights). Guests can also enjoy a host of winter activities, including husky sledging, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and reindeer feeding.
During warmer months, Octola transforms into an outdoor playground. The wilderness is perfect for sunrise yoga, horse riding, kayaking, foraging, and fishing to name but a few of the activities on offer. In the height of summer, guests can experience the phenomenon of the Midnight Sun – 24-hours of daylight.
