Villa Borghese
6 Bedrooms — 12 Guests
A grand regal Medici hunting mansion in the Tuscan Countryside
Villa Borghese, a grand mansion built in the 16th century, was once one of the 12 hunting residences of the Grand Duke Ferdinando I de’ Medici, grandson of the famous Lorenzo Il Magnifico (Lorenzo the Magnificent).
Built on a hill of olive trees and vineyards overlooking the valley that connects Florence to Lucca, the villa has retained its original architectural beauty and serenity. Guests have the chance to reside in a unique and truly special atmosphere.
The entire estate has been carefully restored and improved upon by the present owner, a prince whose family bought the property more than 200 years ago.
Outdoors, guests can enjoy a swimming pool, surrounded by sun loungers and lush green lawns. There are plenty of outdoor lounge areas, ideal for al fresco entertaining and socialising whilst enjoying the spectacular countryside views.
Indoors, all the rooms are decorated with antique furniture and paintings, the high ceilings feature Venetian glass chandeliers and the floors are laid with opulent Persian carpets.
Guests can enjoy a game of pool in the billiards room, relax with a good book in the library, and enjoy delicious feasts in the elegant dining room.
Each of the spacious bedrooms offer a private sanctuary to retire to at the end of the day. There are five master bedrooms with king-size beds and one twin room – which can be converted to a double on request – all with en-suite facilities and beautiful views.
The estate guarantees an extreme level of security and tranquillity, making a stay at Villa Borghese the perfect luxury retreat.

About the area
Villa Borghese is located near well-preserved Pistoia, which is halfway between Florence and Lucca and overlooks the valley with its two towers rising up over the summit of the hill. It is easily accessible, just 40 minutes by car from Florence or Pisa airports and 10 minutes from the railway station of Montecatini Terme.
Dating back to Etruscan times, the town played an important role in the 12th and 13th centuries and its medieval stronghold structure is still intact, with little paved streets leading up through the houses into little squares.
Visit the Piazza del Duomo and its attractive buildings, the Romanesque Cathedral of San Zeno (5th Century), the ornate and noble Palazzo dei Vescovi (‘Bishop’s Palace’), the lively street market with its sea of blue awnings and jostling shoppers.
Baths and spas in the region date back to 14th century. There are now nine thermal spas spread across town which have illustrious patronage counting Rossini, Verdi, Princess Grace, Orson Welles, Clark Gable, and European royalty amongst past visitors.
