What sets a Bora Bora villa staff apart is rarely visible on arrival.
At Bora Bora One, a private 7.5-acre estate on Motu Piti Aau hosting up to ten guests, it becomes clear within hours: the team here has spent years learning to anticipate what guests need before they know themselves.
Most guests arrive thinking about the lagoon. They leave thinking about the people.

Julio Mevil, the villa manager, is deliberate about who joins the team. Candidates are chosen not only for professional skill but for genuine passion — a distinction that sounds obvious and is rarely applied with consistency. Most of the team has been with the villa for years. The last new hire filled a position that did not previously exist.
That continuity is not incidental. A team that has worked together for years does not need to communicate every detail out loud. They anticipate. They know, before a guest does, what the morning will need.

The goal at Bora Bora One is never a standardised luxury experience. It is an experience that feels made for the specific people in front of them. Julio describes it simply: regular feedback, a collaborative culture, and an unwavering commitment to understanding each guest. What a particular family needs, how a couple prefers their mornings, when to be present and when to disappear.

The villa’s 24-hour professional team covers every detail of a stay:
– Villa manager: coordinates the full guest experience from arrival to departure
– Private chef and sous-chef: tailor daily menus to each guest, with ingredients sourced fresh each morning
– Activity supervisor: dedicated to each charter, manages all on and off-property experiences
– Waitresses and housekeeping: present throughout, visible only when needed
– Gardeners: maintain the estate’s 7.5 acres, including the organic garden

Guests are received by a group performing traditional Polynesian dances and music. Not as a performance staged for tourists, but as a genuine expression of the culture the staff carries. The atmosphere is so affecting, Julio notes, that guests are sometimes moved to tears.
It sets a tone the rest of the stay sustains.

In June 2024, a family arrived travelling for the first time with their 30-year-old son, who is quadriplegic. When they left, they sent Julio a message:
“Dear Julio, A few inadequate words to express our thanks for the unique experience of the last seven days. The location is exquisite, of course, but the staff have been beyond exemplary and wonderfully considerate. We know we presented some unique challenges with our kid but were made to feel completely welcome and at ease. Without doubt, he enjoyed one of the very best weeks of his life. Although he cannot express himself in words, his joy and happiness were infectious. Thank you for everything.”
There is no staff training programme that produces that letter. It comes from people who genuinely care — and who have been given the time, the stability, and the culture to show it.

A private motu in Bora Bora is exceptional by any measure. The lagoon, the light, Mount Otemanu rising from the water. But the setting is the same every week. What changes is the team that meets you there — and what Bora Bora One has spent years building is a group of people who understand that the most memorable thing about a great stay is never the view. It is the moment someone made you feel, without effort or performance, that your presence genuinely mattered.
