Chalet on the Rocks

Perched in a rock garden on the slopes above Chamonix Valley, Chalet on the Rocks is a contemporary five-bedroom alpine retreat. This south-facing retreat flanked by tall pines offers uninterrupted views of the jagged peaks of the Aiguille du Midi and the towering summit of Mont Blanc.

The chalet is an architectural masterpiece. Its exterior is clad in vintage grey wood reclaimed from centuries-old farms and cottages, allowing the building to blend seamlessly into the surrounding rock and forest. This weathered timber is paired with raw stone and lime, creating a look that artfully blends tradition with modernity.

A balcony runs along the chalet’s top floor, offering plenty of space for guests to take in the stunning surroundings. However, the highlight of the chalet’s outdoor space is undoubtedly its bubbling Jacuzzi. Set on a platform behind the chalet, its elevated position allows for spectacular panoramic views, making it the perfect place for après-ski drinks.

During the summer months, guests can also enjoy a yoga deck, a Pétanque court, and perfectly manicured lawns.

Indoors, the chalet is a sanctuary of minimalist luxury. The design focuses on space and light, with its vast, open-plan living area featuring soaring ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the views. Steel frames add a modern, industrial feel, while warm wooden details and charcoal furniture create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The living area comprises a cosy lounge with a crackling fireplace, a dining area with a solid cedar table, and a contemporary kitchen, fully equipped with sleek appliances.

On the chalet’s lower level, a second cosy living space beckons. With plush seating, an impressive library, and sliding doors out to the lower terrace, it’s ideal for younger guests to have their own space. This level also features a sauna and a massage table for post-ski relaxation and rejuvenation.

Up to 11 guests can be accommodated across five alpine-chic bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities. The spacious, south-facing master bedroom on the upper floor boasts panoramic views of the Glacier des Bossons and Mont Blanc, along with a large en-suite featuring a luxurious freestanding bathtub. The lower floor is home to another south-facing double room, two rooms which can be set up as either twins or doubles, and a bunk room, ideal for children.
