Villa Cala Moresca is located in the Argentario region of Italy. It is in an ideal position for exploring the beauty of the picturesque area that is situated between the Mediterranean beaches and the rolling hills of Tuscany.
The promontory’s unique shape offers miles of pristine beaches and more than 30 miles of rugged coastline with beautiful bays coveted by the yachting fraternity. Monte Argentario was originally an island but over the centuries, the process of sedimentation resulted in it being connected to the mainland. Now, situated between the municipalities of Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole, it offers the visitor a unique holiday.
The Calamoresca Park is located on the panoramic road and is seven kilometres from the town of Porto Santo Stefano. Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole are the two villages of the municipality of Monte Argentario. Although only 12 kilometres apart, they have very different histories, traditions and folklore.
Puerto Santo Stefano, which was founded more recently by fishermen emigrants, exudes vitality from every street corner. On the promenade there is an excellent fish market and a beautiful selection of cafes and restaurants. In summer, the marina which is found beyond the seafront houses, houses beautiful sailboats and luxury yachts.
Porto Ercole is a small, very historic town. The old town is surrounded by city walls of Siena of the fifteenth century and boasts the picturesque square of Santa Barbara. This is dominated by the clock tower, where there is a plaque commemorating the great painter, Michelangelo Merisi, known as Caravaggio, who died in Porto Ercole in 1610.
Monte Argentario is an excellent choice for a holiday of fun and relaxation as it offers beautiful turquoise sea, wide beaches of fine sand, small sand and pebble coves, natural creeks and flat rocks – some are easily accessed while others are reached by foot paths or solely from the sea.
