A traditional historic Mallorcan villa with fabulous sea views

Son Balagueret is a traditional Mallorcan three-bedroom villa, part of the Son Bunyola, a luxury estate in the picturesque island of Mallorca. Staying at this stunning villa will offer discerning guests an unforgettable experience on this charming Balearic Island. Great privacy and comfort in a luxurious property, combined with the breath-taking surrounding coastal landscape, dotted with vines, citrus, olive and almond trees, can only create the most idyllic setting in which to completely relax and have the best time together with family or friends.

Nestled in the private estate that covers 680 acres, Son Balagueret has an elevated position on a hill that offers superb views of the Mediterranean Sea. This historic villa has its original turret, dating back to the 13th century, and the small slotted secret windows were once used to signal to similar lookout points in the area to warn of possible attacks. Now, this vacation rental property boasts a sheltered courtyard central to the house, which serves as a perfect spot to unwind and retreat in a cosy corner to lose track of time with a good book. To soak up the warm Mediterranean sun, guests can laze by the private heated swimming pool that overlooks Mallorca’s beautiful northwest coastline. Perfectly complementing the dramatic scenery, the estate has a large and unused historic manor house, or ‘finca’, dating from the mid-1200s.

Son Balagueret is built over three floors, including a quirky turret. The interior space oozes luxurious comfort and elegance, inspired by the stylish, yet very cosy furnishings. The villa can accommodate up to six adults in three well-appointed bedrooms. The sleeping area includes a master bedroom, a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, plus an additional day bed.

A deluxe holiday at Son Balagueret will offer a myriad of pastime alternatives, from very relaxing to active adventurous activities. The professional team of staff is on hand to arrange from spa treatments to different sporty activities. Hiking expeditions, cycling journeys, sailing, kayak and canoe tours, as well as deep sea fishing are some of the activities that can be organised for guests. Although the Son Bunyola estate is secluded, guests can also easily explore the surrounding area and discover the charming Mallorcan villages with museums, art galleries, boutique-style shops and cafes.

Area

Mallorca is considered without doubt one of the most idyllic place in the Balearics. With its impressive mountainous landscape rolling into the blue sea, Mallorca is a place to enjoy a memorable holiday.

Son Bunyola estate, although secluded, is close to many charming villages that host art galleries, museums, traditional restaurants, shops and many beaches.

Some of the most notable places to visit while in Mallorca include:

Banyalbufar, the closest town to Son Bunyola (~15 mins’ drive away), where the 16th-century Torre del Verger sits imposingly on the edge of the mountains and provides spectacular coastal views.

Valldemossa is the prettiest village in the West Majorcan Tramuntana range and is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts. The most famous landmark is the 13th-century monastery, Reak Cartuja de Valldemossa, which hosted famous composer Frederic Chopin. Many boutique-style cafes, bakeries, galleries and gift shops are found on the charming little streets of this village.

Esporles is a chic village situated 20 mins’ drive from the estate, featuring the important historic mansion and museum. This village is very well connected to the capital Palma and important shopping destinations. Every Saturday, there is a market with an extensive variety of fresh and local produce.

Deia is a beautiful, traditional coastal village in Mallorca, situated only 40 minutes away from Son Bunyola. The village has an art-rich history, having played host to many foreign artists and their visiting friends and families.

Cala Deia beach is a famous traditional cove-like beach, abundant in local restaurants serving meals from the traditional Mallorcan cuisine.

Palma is the capital city of Mallorca, situated approximately 45 mins’ drive from the Son Bunyola estate. This is the perfect place to find international shops and boutiques, and also a bustling nightlife. Among its main touristic attractions are the waterfront cathedral and the old town.
