Nestled into the hillside of Plaka, Crete, is the beautiful stone-built Villa Spinalonga. This stunning property offers uninterrupted sea and island views from its many private terraces, large pool, and expansive gardens.
With its elevated position on the hillside, guests will enjoy fantastic views across the water to the villa’s namesake, Spinalonga Island. This fortress island steeped in history is perfect for a day trip from the villa.
The villa itself is the perfect spot for a relaxing, sunny escape. The sun terrace offers ample space for every guest to enjoy the island sunshine by the pool, and behind the sun loungers, a generous outdoor lounge, dining and kitchen space is perfect for al fresco dining with loved ones or taking some time under the shade of the pergola in the heat of the day.
Inside, guests can unwind in the villa’s hammam or dip into the Jacuzzi under a huge skylight window, which lets the sun flood the room. The villa’s gym is fully equipped for those looking to stay active. For those seeking a cosy night in, the villa also boasts a nine-seat cinema room.
A clean and chic modern design gives the villa a light, bright feeling while letting the blue sea and sky be the main attraction through floor-to-ceiling glass doors and panoramic windows.
On the main floor, a comfortable lounge area with enough seating for everyone is perfect after a day in the sunshine. Guests can enjoy a morning coffee at the kitchen breakfast bar with windows on three sides or gather for a meal in the modern dining room at the beautiful wooden long table.
The villa’s 10 en-suite bedrooms are spread across its three levels. On the first floor, four rooms have private terraces where guests can drink in the seafront views, whether from bed or the shower. The master – and largest – bedroom on this level also enjoys a freestanding bathtub right next to a large window to continue highlighting the villa’s enviable seafront position. The ground floor is home to one en-suite bedroom with direct access to the main terrace and into the sunshine. The final five bedrooms are on the lower ground floor. Sat below the pool level, it’s perfect for guests seeking a little extra peace and privacy. Three rooms have direct access to the lower courtyard or the lush green garden space, while two
are without direct outdoor access and are best suited to younger guests or personal staff.
