L’Orto di Vignamaggio

Set in the rolling Chianti hills, L’Orto di Vignamaggio is an expertly restored traditional farmhouse with the historic Vignamaggio estate. Comprising four independent apartments sleeping a total of 18 guests, it’s an ideal retreat for families or groups of friends seeking both togetherness and privacy.

The Vignamaggio estate offers 400 hectares of organic farmland, lush gardens, and verdant forests punctuated by trickling streams. Set in the heart of the estate, the charming farmhouse provides a secluded and intimate experience, a peaceful counterpoint to the grandeur of the estate’s main Renaissance villa. “L’Orto,” meaning “the garden,” perfectly encapsulates its essence—a serene haven where nature, history, and comfort converge.

The lush gardens surrounding L’Orto offer plenty of space to relax and socialise. At one end of its grounds, a 12-metre swimming pool with a sunbathing deck forms a tranquil oasis where one can relax and soak up the Tuscan sun, with a panorama of the Chianti hills stretching out in every direction. Closer to the farmhouse itself, several furnished patios offer space for al fresco dining and socialisation.

The farmhouse is a testament to traditional Tuscan architecture. Its stone walls, terracotta-tiled roof, and rustic wooden shutters speak of centuries of history, while the interiors have been thoughtfully restored to blend classic charm with modern amenities. Each of the four apartments is a private sanctuary, featuring exposed wooden beams, natural light, and traditional farmhouse decor. Adding a unique and creative touch, many rooms feature wall art inspired by the botanical illustrations of the 16th-century botanist Gherardo Cibo.

Erbavoglio 1 offers a cosy living room with a charming stone fireplace, a bright kitchen, and a dining area which opens out to the shady veranda. Its first floor is home to two spacious, en-suite bedrooms.

Erbavolgio 2 boasts a spacious billiards room, which offers entertainment for all ages and opens out to a small veranda for relaxed outdoor meals. It also features a well-equipped kitchenette, ideal for meal preparation. On its top floor, the apartment has two en-suite bedrooms, including a master suite with a lounge area.

Il Fienile 1 has the largest communal living space, with its vast terrace – featuring a covered dining area for up to 22 guests – ideal for al fresco parties. A stone archway leads indoors to a comfortable lounge room, a cosy living room, a spacious dining room, and a fully-equipped kitchen. Upstairs, there are two spacious en-suite bedrooms, including a master suite with a lounge area.

Finally, Il Fienile 2 boasts a spacious lounge with a marble fireplace, a small dining space, and a well-equipped kitchen on its ground floor. The ground floor is also home to an en-suite double bedroom, whilst upstairs there are two further double rooms with a shared bathroom.
