An exclusive equestrian and sporting estate set on expansive grounds.
Villa Mas Mateu is an 18th century Spanish estate with a world-class equestrian centre. It has retained all the grandeur and style associated with its pedigree whilst remaining accessible and offering all the luxuries and comfort one expects from an establishment of this kind.
The property comfortably sleeps 24 guests, making it ideal for a large family getaway or intimate wedding.
The extensive outdoor facilities include a dedicated swimming pool complex, a well-equipped gym, a football field, basketball court, and paddle court, an outdoor barbecue and al fresco dining area, and a summer kitchen housed in an ancient barn.
The property is home to Southern Europe’s leading equestrian facilities, headed by a member of Spain’s highly regarded dressage training team. One of the world’s finest facilities for training dressage horses, the centre can stable up to 10 horses and boasts a 70x30 metre all-weather covered track, a 70x30 metre outdoor track, a warm-up arena, six paddocks, stands for up to 100 spectators, several acres of fields, and living quarters for trainers.
A graceful, arched doorway leads into a series of inviting lounges, with magnificent views over the Emporda and the Pyrenees. Cool alabaster walls frame the grand salon’s majestic fireplace.
Each of the 11 bedrooms is distinctively decorated in delicate tones. There are seven king-size bedrooms with en-suite facilities, along with two double bedrooms and a quad bedroom, sharing two bathrooms between them. The 11th bedroom is a study that can be converted to an additional twin room where needed. Many of the rooms also boast private terraces or balconies with stunning views.
There are several guest houses available for larger groups of up to 39 guests as standard or 53 guests when additional singles and sofa beds are added.
With its stunning location and outstanding facilities, Villa Mas Mateu is the perfect choice for a luxury holiday on the Costa Brava.

Location
Mas Mateu is located in an area called the golden triangle, so named for three reasons:
• Proximity to one of the most beautiful coasts of the Mediterranean: the Costa Brava (less than 10 km, 6.5 miles). On the Costa Brava you will find the region’s top beaches: Cadaques, Aiguablava Begur, Sa Tuna Begur, and Platja Castells Palamos
• The natural reserve (Les Gavarres) that stretches from the coast to the capital of the province, Girona.
• The culture and history of the area; there are plenty of well-preserved medieval villages, such as Peratallada and Pals which are a UNESCO heritage.
The province of Emporda borders France in the north; to its east is the Mediterranean; Girona, its local capital lies to the west and in the south is Barcelona.
